So one of the main reasons I created this blog was to be able to post my game play experiences after starting on my first Sims 4 legacy challenge. I know a lot of people play legacy style, to be honest I kind of do too but I often like to play my games slowly so I have never really ended up with more than 2 or 3 generations in the lineage. With the introduction of Newcrest in one of the latest updates, a fellow simmer has created a legacy challenge called The Build Newcrest Challenge, which has got me so excited to begin! You can find her blog Simply Vanilla Sims and the rules for the challenge here.
If you read the rules you will find they are really laid back but still challenging. To start with you need your ‘founding sim’. I’ve decided that because its Sims, and I’m allowed, I’m starting with a woman and her last name will be carried through the generations by the WOMEN. Because feminism! Ha ha, nah, just cuz I feel like it. Anyway my founding sim is Aurora Romania, and if you wish you can download her from the gallery here.
I’m adding a few of my own rules to this challenge, just for funzies. For instance, the necklace that Aurora is wearing will be passed down to her heirs as they become the new leader (the sim whose aspiration I am trying to fulfil). Also, like I said before I want to continue the lineage with women. I’ve given Aurora those beautiful green eyes, and I want to see if I can try and keep those genetics in the lineage too. I love playing with genetics in Sims!
So I’ve moved Aurora into an empty lot, which will eventually be converted into a park as per the challenge. I’ve almost fulfilled her aspiration, then I can start building the park and work on her family! I haven’t found a male sim yet that I want her to start the lineage with. I mean, I need some good genetics if we’re going to raise 10 generations, am I right?
My founding sim, Aurora Romania
We will see how all of that goes. In the mean time, I have just purchased Outdoor Retreat, Luxury Party Stuff and Perfect Patio Stuff on Origin, because they are doing a discount promo at the moment until the 14th July, if you type PLAY for the promo code at checkout, you can get $20 off if you spend $50 or more (I’m in Australia, not sure if this is worldwide or not, also take this into consideration when I mention prices). Outdoor Retreat was $29.99 for me, and the stuff packs $14.99 each so I was able to save $20 on a $60 order. I’m not a fan of paying full price for Sims expansions because I do think they are a bit overpriced considering how many you end up buying, and how little really comes in them. But with the game still being relatively new, it’s so exciting when new things come out and I was able to justify my purchase with the discount.
There is another game pack coming out on the 14th July, Spa Day. While I am excited about the new skills (yoga skill sounds awesome!) I will probably hold out until I can get it for less than $30. For now, I have a family to raise and a town to build!
